Energy4me, the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ (SPE) energy education outreach programme, is inviting 100 Kuwaiti science teachers (grades 8-12) to learn how to teach energy topics in a hands-on, innovative way during KOGS 2017!
Educators will receive comprehensive, and objective information about the scientific concepts of energy and its importance, while discovering the world of oil and natural gas exploration and production. A variety of free instructional materials will be available for them to take back to the classroom.
- Presentation on oil and gas exploration and production
A keynote speaker will present the role of energy in our everyday lives, followed by a brief question and answer period.
- Hands-on classroom activities
Teachers will learn age-appropriate energy experiments that can energise their classrooms through hands-on activities provided by SPE Energy4me instructors.
- Technology tour
Teachers will get to tour the Ahmed Al-Jaber Oil & Gas Exhibition Center and see the influence and history of oil and gas in Kuwait as well as many of the technologies that were dealt with during the workshop.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is educating the next generation of aspiring engineers, scientists and managers in the E&P industry. Approximately 300 high school students will see first-hand the career opportunities the industry has to offer. Students will also meet industry professionals and ask questions about possible careers in the E&P industry. In addition, students will get to tour the Ahmed Al-Jaber Oil & Gas Exhibition Center.
Students will participate in hands-on energy exploration and production experiments led by qualified SPE Energy4me facilitators and KOC staff volunteers, meet industry professionals, and tour the latest state-of-the-art oil and gas exhibition. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students to get to interact with the people who make this industry work while at the same time, learning about the various scientific concepts that are key to the success of bringing energy to the world. Morning snacks and lunch will be provided.
